Ο Στάθης Γαζής προηγείται στην Ικαρία - Stathes Gazis is leading "Ikaros" 2013

Ο Στάθης Γαζής μόλις έχει πραγματοποιήσει την πρώτη του κίνηση στον φετινό «Ίκαρο», με αντίπαλο την Ειρήνη Φραγκιαδάκη - Stathes Gazis has just made his first move at his first round game for Ikaros 2013 against Irene Frangiadaki.

Εκπλήξεις στον φετινό "Ίκαρο" με το Στάθη Γαζή, σκακιστή του Σ.Μ.Σ. Ελευσίνας (5o στην αρχική λίστα των Έλο), να προπορεύεται με απόλυτο σκορ και τον 19χρονο Δημήτρη Κανέλλο του Σ.Ο. Παγκρατίου (μόλις Νο 22 στην αρχική κατάταξη) να ισοβαθμεί στη δεύτερη θέση!

Βαθμολογία δύο γύρους πριν από τη λήξη: 1) Γαζής (FM, 2263) 7 βαθμοί σε 7 αγώνες, 2-3) Βέλιτσκα (GM, Τσεχία, 2433), Κανέλλος (1986) 6 βαθμοί, 4-9) Κισέλεβ (Ρωσία, 2210), Ριγόπουλος-Τσίγκος (2085), Νέστερ (IM, Ουκρανία, 2307), Μαλικέντζος (FM, 2347), Κόντου (WIM, 2182), Φρεντζάς (IM, 2363) 5,5 βαθμοί.

Η Κόντου (Σ.Ο. Σαντορίνης) φαίνεται να έχει εξασφαλίσει τον τίτλο της πρωταθλήτριας Αιγαίου, ενώ τον τίτλο του πρωταθλητή Αιγαίου διεκδικούν ο Φρεντζάς (Σαντορίνη) και οι σκακιστές του Σ.Ο. Ικαρίας Πούντζας, Χαιρόπουλος και Λαζαρίδης (και οι τρεις με 5 βαθμούς). Το πρόγραμμα του 8ου γύρου είναι διαθέσιμο εδώ

Χοροί, ξεναγήσεις, εκθέσεις

Ύστερα από το πυκνό πρόγραμμα των πρώτων ημερών οι σκακιστές είχαν ελεύθερο το απόγευμα της 17ης Ιουλίου, Επετείου της Απελευθέρωσης της Ικαρίας από τον Τουρκικό ζυγό, και διασκέδασαν στο καθιερωμένο πανηγύρι. Την προηγούμενη ημέρα, τα μέλη του πολιτιστικού συλλόγου "Ιωάννης Μελάς", είχαν φροντίσει να διδάξουν παραδοσιακούς χορούς! Με πρωτοβουλία του ίδιου συλλόγου πραγματοποιήθηκε ξενάγηση στο Λαογραφικό Μουσείο.

Στο χώρο των αγώνων στήθηκε έκθεση με υλικό που διέθεσαν οι Ικαριακοί Σύλλογοι Αθηνών, η οποία επιδιώκει γνωριμία των φιλοξενούμενων σκακιστών με την Ικαρία και τις ομορφιές της, την ιστορία, τον πολιτισμό και τις ιδιαιτερότητές της. Το ίδιο υλικό έχει παρουσιαστεί στις Εκθέσεις Ελληνικού Λαϊκού Πολιτισμού 2008, 2009, 2010 στο περίπτερο των Ικαριακών Συλλόγων της παροικίας Αθηνών το οποίο βραβεύτηκε 2 συνεχείς χρονιές. Και άλλες εκδηλώσεις!

Ο τελευταίος γύρος του 36ου Διεθνούς Τουρνουά "Ίκαρος 2013" - Ανοιχτό Πρωτάθλημα Αιγαίου θα γίνει Σάββατο πρωί. Στις 7 το απόγευμα της ίδιας ημέρας θα πραγματοποιηθούν οι απονομές στους νικητές, καθώς και η βράβευση των δημάρχων Αγίου Κηρύκου και Ικαρίας. Αμέσως μετά το πέρας των απονομών θα διεξαχθεί το Ομαδικό Μεσογειακό Τουρνουά Γρήγορου Σκακιού.

Την Κυριακή και την Δευτέρα θα πραγματοποιηθούν αγώνες μεταξύ των ομάδων της Ικαρίας και της Σάμου, καθώς και εκδηλώσεις στη μνήμη του πρώτου Ικάριου υποψήφιου μετρ Μανώλη Σταυρινάδη.

Όλες οι σκακιστικές δραστηριότητες διοργανώνονται από τον Δήμο Ικαρίας και το Σκακιστικό Όμιλο Ικαρίας, στο Αθλητικό Κέντρο Αγίου Κηρύκου.  Η προβολή τους φέτος ξεπέρασε κάθε προηγούμενο, με τηλεοπτικά και ραδιοφωνικά σποτ σε σταθμούς πανελλαδικής εμβέλειας, με θετική προσέγγιση από μεγάλες εφημερίδες (ξεχωρίζει το δισέλιδο αφιέρωμα στο σημερινό φύλλο του "Έθνους" - Παρασκευή 19 Ιουλίου), καθώς και με εκτενείς αναφορές στα Ικαριακά sites και σε σκακιστικές ιστοσελίδες στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό!

After the completion of the 7th round of Ikaros International Chess Tournament 2013, upsets and surprises keep coming up, with FM Stathes Gazis (seeded No. 5) of S.M.S. Elefsinas keeping the lead having an absolute (7/7) score, and the 19 years old Dimitris Kanellos of S.O.Pagratiou (seeded No. 22) tying for the 2nd place.

Eva Kondou (of S.O.Santorinis) seems to have secured the title of female Aegean Champion while the title of the Aegean Champion will be contested among Frendzas (S.O.Santorinis, 5,5 p.) and Poundzas, Heropoulos and Lazaridis (S.O.Ikarias, 5 p.). The pairing of the 8th round can be found here:

Dances, Sightseeing and exhibitions

After the very dense schedule of the first days of the tournament, the participants at last had plenty of free time on the afternoon of the 17th of July, the day of the celebrations for the liberation of Ikaria from Ottoman occupation and had a very good time at the local “panigiri” (festivities). On the previous day some members of the local cultural club “Ioannis Melas” had taught the chess players the local dances and especially the widely famous “Ikariotikos” (the traditional dance of Ikaria). Members of “Ioannis Melas” also offered to the chessplayers a guided tour at the Cultural Museum of Aghios Kirykos.

On top of these activities, the organizes of “Ikaros 2013” with the help of the local cultural clubs staged at the playing venue an exhibition of photos and documents that aims to introduce the tournament participants to Ikaria,, its beauties, its history its culture and its unique traits. The same material has been presented before during the Exhibitions of the Greek Popular Culture in 2008, 2009 and 2010 at the stand of the Ikarian Culture Clubs of Athens and were twice awarded with distinctions. More events!

The last round of the 36th International Chess Tournament “Ikaros” 2013 – Aegean Open Championship will take place on Saturday morning. The closing ceremony and the prize giving as well as the honorary awards to the past and present mayors of Aghios Kirykos and Ikaria will take place at 7.p.m. After the closing ceremony the 4th Mediterranean Rapid Team Tournament will take place.

On Sunday and Monday there will be friendly matches between the teams of Ikaria and Samos as well as some events in the memory of the first Ikarian candidate master Manolis Stavrinadis.

All chess events of “Ikaros” 2013 are organized by the Municipality of Aghios Kirykos and Ikaria Chess Club at the Sports Center of Aghios Kirykos. This year the promotion of the tournament has surpassed all previous records, with TV and radio spots on nationwide stations, articles in major newspapers (double-page article in the Friday, July 19, issue of the "Ethnos"), and extensive references at Ikarian and chess websites in Greece and worldwide!
