Ο πρωταθλητής ηθοποιών στο
σκάκι Τάκης Παπαματθαίου αγωνίζεται κι εφέτος στην Ικαρία -

Ευχάριστο ξάφνιασμα από τους φίλους των σκακιστικών
αγώνων της Ικαρίας: ενώ οι αναμενόμενες συμμετοχές ήταν περίπου 100, στον
δεύτερο γύρο, μετά το ξεκαθάρισμα της λίστας, θα καθίσουν στη σκακιέρα 130 σκακιστές
και σκακίστριες. Οι 114 αγωνίζονται στο α΄ γκρουπ, με πρώτους σε βαθμό
αξιολόγησης τους γκραν μετρ Προχάσκα (Ουγγαρία, 2585) και Βέλιτσκα
(Τσεχία, 2413), και οι 16 στο β΄ γκρουπ, των αρχαρίων, όπου ο αριθμός
αναμένεται να αυξηθεί αφού εμφανίζονται ολοένα και περισσότερα (και
μικρότερα!!) παιδιά.
Πολλές, συγκριτικά με προηγούμενα χρόνια, είναι και
οι διεθνείς εκπροσωπήσεις. Αγωνίζονται παίκτες από την Ελλάδα, την Κύπρο
και άλλες 12 ξένες χώρες: Αγγλία, Αίγυπτο, Αλβανία, Καναδά, Λίβανο,
Μαυροβούνιο, Ουγγαρία, Ουκρανία, Πολωνία, Σερβία, Σκωτία, Τσεχία.
Το Ανοιχτό Διεθνές Πρωτάθλημα Αιγαίου «Ίκαρος 2014»
άρχισε το Σάββατο στο Αθλητικό Κέντρο Αγίου Κηρύκου με την καθιερωμένη
καθυστέρηση (!) και με εύκολο πρόγραμμα για τους ισχυρούς.
Την έναρξη κήρυξε, εκ μέρους του Δήμου Ικαρίας
και του Σκακιστικού Ομίλου Ικαρίας, ο Αλέξανδρος Σκάρος,
καλωσορίζοντας τους φιλοξενούμενους στην 37η ετήσια διοργάνωση «Ίκαρος».
Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον έδειξαν οι νεαροί κυρίως σκακιστές για την ανάλυση
παρτίδων που προσέφερε ο προπονητής Ηλίας Κουρκουνάκης. Εκτός σκακιέρας,
αίσθηση προκάλεσε η καλαίσθητη αφίσα, καθώς και η απεικόνιση από τον Δημήτρη
Σωτηρόπουλο σε μπλούζες, της ονομασίας των αγώνων, των διοργανωτών και της
χορηγού ναυτιλιακής εταιρείας Hellenic Seaways.

Although the 1st
round of Ikaros 2014 commenced yesterday with a bit more than 100
participants, a pleasant surprise awaited the organizers of the tournament
since for the 2nd round the number will increase to 130! 114 of the
participants (leaded by GMs Prohaszka (HUN 2585) and Velicka (CZE
2413)) play at Group A while the rest 16 play at Group B designated for very
young and novice players (the number of participants in this group is expected
to increase more in the next rounds!)
The number of
represented countries is also increased compared to previous years. Apart from Greece and Cyprus
there are participants coming from 12 different countries: Albania, Canada,
Czech Republic,
Egypt, England, Hungary,
Lebanon, Montenegro, Poland,
Scotland, Serbia and Ukraine.
International
Chess Tournament “Ikaros 2014” commenced
yesterday afternoon at Sports Center of Aghios Kirykos (with some delay -as
it’s almost customary- but we are at Ikaria, remember? :-) ) with the stronger
players not facing particular difficulties to beat their opponents.
The tournament
participants were welcomed, on behalf of the Municipality of Ikaria and Ikaria
Chess Club, by Mr. Alexandros Skaros who also declared the start of
the tournament.
After their
games the younger participants showed particular interest for the analysis of
their games offered by IM and chess trainer Ilias Kourkounakis.
Apart from the
boards and the games, the attention of the participants was also drawn to the
work of Dimitris Sotiropoulos who designed the stylish poster and the
sketch printed on the T-Shirts of the tournament showing the organizers and the
sponsor of the event, Hellenic Seaways.
